Frequently Asked Questions
Care plan (medicare) physiotherapy
Q1. Can I claim Medicare for my physio sessions?
Yes, you can. If your condition has been ongoing for six months or more, your GP may include physiotherapy under a Medicare plan.
Q2. How do I get started?
Book an appointment with your GP and ask about a Chronic Condition Management Plan.
Once your GP prepares the plan and referral, you’re ready to start physio.
Q3. How many visits are included?
Medicare covers up to five allied health sessions per calendar year, which can include physiotherapy.
Q4. What does Medicare pay?
You’ll receive a rebate of about $61.8 per session. You simply pay the clinic first, and the rebate is sent straight to your bank account.
Q5. Do you offer bulk billing?
Yes — we bulk bill for seniors (65+) and children or teens (under 18).
For all other patients, there’s just a $10 gap fee per session after the Medicare rebate.
Q6. How can I claim my rebate?
No need to visit Medicare. We process your rebate instantly at the clinic — it’s simple and fast.
Q7. I’m not sure if I’m eligible. What should I do?
Don’t worry. Just let us know, and we can help you check your eligibility and guide you through the steps with your GP.
Private Health Insurance Physiotherapy
Q1. Can I claim physiotherapy through my private health insurance?
Yes. Most private health funds include physiotherapy under “Extras” cover.
Your rebate amount depends on your level of cover and the insurer.
Q2. How do I claim my rebate?
It’s easy — simply swipe your private health card after your session.
The rebate is processed instantly, and you just pay the remaining gap.
Q3. How much will I get back?
Each health fund is different, but most cover $25–$45 per session on average.
You can check your exact rebate through your insurer’s app or website.
Q4. Do you accept all health funds?
Yes — we accept all major Australian private health funds, including Medibank, Bupa, HCF, AHM, HBF, and NIB.
Q5. What if I forget my card?
No problem. You can pay in full and claim the rebate later online through your insurer’s portal or app.
Q6. Is a GP referral required?
No. You can book directly with us — a referral is not needed for private physiotherapy.
Q7. Can I use both Medicare and private health insurance for the same session?
Unfortunately, no. You can only claim one funding source per visit — either Medicare, CTP, or private health insurance.
Q8. What if I don’t have private insurance?
You’re still welcome to book physiotherapy privately.
We’ll provide a receipt for your session, which you can use for tax or health expense claims.
CTP Insurance Physiotherapy
Q1. What is CTP insurance?
CTP (Compulsory Third Party) insurance covers people injured in a motor vehicle accident — including drivers, passengers, cyclists, or pedestrians — even if they were not at fault.
Q2. Can I start physiotherapy right after the accident?
Yes. You can begin treatment as soon as your claim is lodged. Early care helps reduce pain, improve mobility, and prevent long-term issues.
Q3. How do I make a claim?
You’ll need to complete a CTP claim form and get a Certificate of Capacity from your GP. Once submitted, you can start physiotherapy under your insurer’s approval.
Q4. Do I need to pay upfront?
Usually, no upfront payment is required. We bill the insurer directly once your claim is accepted.
Q5. What if my claim is still being processed?
You can still start treatment. We’ll help you contact the insurer and manage your sessions until approval is confirmed.
Q6. How many sessions will I get?
Your initial approval often includes around 6 sessions. Your physiotherapist will send progress reports to the insurer to request more if needed.
Q7. What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your claim number, GP referral or certificate of capacity, and any medical reports related to the accident.
Q8. What if my pain returns after finishing treatment?
You can contact your insurer or GP for reassessment. If medically necessary, further physiotherapy sessions may be approved.
